Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with your favorite Broadway stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!
In this week's edition, we caught up with Joe DiPietro, whose Living on Love is currently in previews at the Longacre Theatre.
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
1776. I still remember where I was sitting when the lights came up on the continental congress. I was, in a word, hooked.
What is your most unique pre-show ritual?
I pace and go through an entire roll of certs, all entirely due to nerves.
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?
My (then) boyfriend banged up on my car on his way to a premiere of mine. He told me right before curtain. I was
too nervous about the play to fully comprehend what he was telling me, but as soon as the curtain came down, we
got into a big fight about it.
Is there one role you want to write before you die?
A great one that every star out there wants to play.
Who is your Broadway crush?
Trixie. She plays Puccini in "Living on Love." She's a dog.Where can people 'stalk' you online?
It's generally easier for people who want to stalk me to come directly to my apartment. But for those without the time, stalk me on Facebook!
