In this week's edition, we caught up with J. Elaine Marcos, who is starring as 'Lily St. Regis' in ANNIE- currently in previews at the Palace Theatre, and opening on November 8.

What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
CRAZY FOR YOU with Pia Zadora playing the Irene role. 

 What is your most unique pre-show ritual?

In PRISCILLA, before the Funeral number, Mike McCowan's costume had a fake exposed derrière. I rubbed it like a Buddah belly before going on stage. So in short...I rubbed Mike's butt.

What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?

Setting: My first week in SWEET CHARITY on Broadway. During intermission, I was in my dressing room on the 5th floor with headphones on, going over harmonies for the featured trio singer track in "Rhythm of Life". I took off my headphones to find myself still hearing the song....coming from the monitor meaning..."Rhythm of Life" HAD STARTED ALREADY WITHOUT ME! I ran down the 5 flights trying to make my entrance, but I didn't make it. I just saw the empty box that I was supposed to be standing on, lit beautifully...oh...and Wayne Cilento was in the wings watching. I just went to change for my next number. Embarrassed. But at least I knew my harmonies. 

What is the one role you want to play before you die?

The role that makes a casting director say, “Hey, let's bypass the grueling audition process and let's just hire J. Elaine for that sitcom. And while we are it, send her to Bali for a week as well".

Who is your Broadway crush?
Chico from LEGALLY BLONDE. I've always been a sucker for short haired Latin types. Oh... and the carpenter on stage right....the one in all black.
