Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with your favorite Broadway stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!
In this week's edition, we caught up with Josh Grisetti, who stars as 'Marty Kaufman' in It Shouda Been You, currently playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
LES MISERABLES. On a school trip in the mid-90s. I sat in the very last seat in the very last row of the balcony, squished in the highest corner of house right at the Imperial. It was les miserable. (So if any of you want to go relive the magic of my childhood, you know where to find it!)
What is your most unique pre-show ritual?
Wrapping my legs in a heating pad before stretching for like 2 minutes. I call it the lazy man warmup.
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?During SPAMALOT in Las Vegas, the automated set malfunctioned and ran over the legs of two chorus dancers which brought the show to an emergency stop. The dancers were wheeled out to the ER (after a few weeks they were both OK! FYI), the swings saddled up and the show went on.
It hasn't been written yet. But it's the one that someone is writing explicitly for me to originate. That's the role I want the most. Any takers?!
Who is your Broadway crush?
Emily Padgett. Always. (Though Vanessa Hudgens is coming in strong right now...)
