Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As With Your Favorite Broadway Stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!
In this next edition, we caught up with Emily Padgett who is currently playing 'Sherrie' in ROCK OF AGES at the Helen Hayes Theatre!
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
The first Broadway show I ever saw was The Lion King, I believe. My Dad and I sat in the front row of the Mezzanine and I started to cry during the opening number! I was just so moved by it. It was amazing. What is your most unique pre-show ritual?
Hmm... I am pretty boring before the show. Even though I don't make my entrance until the end of the opening number, I have to be on deck to get my mic checked before they can send out the band. So I have gotten in the habit of riffing backstage during the opening guitar solo – It kind of gets me in that "siren" rock place, but probably soooo obnoxious sounding!
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?
My very first job was the National Tour of CATS. During the overture we would do this thing called "Green Eyes". We would sneak into the audience and at a specific point we would light up these masks we wore and it created this cool effect… anyway, I was in charge of leading my line into the house left orchestra, blah, blah, and I certainly led my line into the wrong door because before I knew it we were outside in the parking lot. Not my finest hour. :)What is the one role you want to play before you die?
I want to play Desiree Armfeldt in A Little Night Music before I die. "Send in the Clowns" is one of my favorites.Who is your Broadway crush?
Where can people stalk you on the web (twitter/fb etc.)?
I am on Facebook, but have to admit I am pretty terrible at it. I am looking to get a fan one up and running soon!Videos
