Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with your favorite Broadway stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!
In this week's edition, we caught up with Joanna Glushak who is starring in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder- currently playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
A CHORUS LINE- the original company.
What is your most unique pre-show ritual?Nothing is very unique... I can be crazy but when it comes to the show. I'm pretty disciplined so usually anything to get me focused for the particular role, ie: vocalizing in a particular range, clucking like a chicken if that is what the role requires, stretching, hitting things.... it all depends on the role I'm about to do.
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?I was in the audience seeing Richard Burton in EQUUS and a lovely gentleman who was on a first date, it seemed, had a heart attack. Richard Burton was stunned. He stopped the show, a doctor came to the man's side and the paramedics came quickly and the show went on... That was it. To this day I hope the man was alright.
I love playing dramatic roles as you can probably tell... I would love to play 'Norma Desmond' in SUNSET BOULEVARD.
Who is your Broadway crush? Where can people stalk you online?Maybe on Facebook....
