THE DIVINE MISS BETTE RETURNS To The U.S. Next Month ImageDirect from her Sydney Opera House debut, Award-winning Australian actor Catherine Alcorn will make her triumphant return to the USA as The Divine Miss Bette touring to Los Angeles, San Diego, Palm Springs and Houston.

Alcorn's vocal coach is Steve Ostrow - the man who discovered Bette Midler and owned the Continental Baths where Midler first played. In a spasm of serendipity, it turns out he lived right around the corner from Catherine in Sydney's Elizabeth Bay.

Ostrow recalls;

"I began working with Catherine in 2009 and instantly recognised the same fire, passion and star quality in her that I saw in a young Bette all those years ago. Vocally, Catherine is masterful. Her performances and approach to the material are a masterclass in song interpretation. Seeing her per- form brings me great joy. Catherine's energy on stage and her authentic connection to her audiences can't be taught. She's the real deal. I can't wait for America to discover her. She's a star."

Alcorn said:

"it's the stories he told me about the way she used to work that gave me incredible in- sight into her character."

Hailed by critics as "a hit!" (Time Out Sydney), "masterful" (The Courier Mail) and "quite the package" (The Australian), the Aussie artist has been thrilling audiences with her magnificent voice and razor sharp wit. Reminiscent of Bette's early concerts, The Divine Miss Bette is a full throttle fanfare that features numbers such as Friends, Delta Dawn, Am I Blue, Hello In There and Stay With Me Baby.

"Touring to America is a dream come true. I put this show together as a showcase to launch me back into the industry after time away. I invited agents who never came. But the general public did, and they kept on coming, so we kept on playing! That was in 2009 and we haven't looked back since. It's the role of my lifetime...so far!"

Catherine has been nominated for Best Cabaret Artist in the 2017 Sydney Theatre and Broadway World Awards and has headlined some of Australia's most iconic venues and festivals including the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Theatre Company and Adelaide Cabaret Festival. She has starred alongside the world's most celebrated artists including Kristen Chenoweth, Molly Ringwald, NYC Cabaret legends Joey Arias, Lady Rizo, and Murray Hill.
