THE CLASSICAL STYLE

The New York premiere of Steven Stucky and
Jeremy Denk's The Classical Style: An Opera (of Sorts) features conductor Robert Spano leading The Knights together with soprano
Jennifer Zetlan; mezzo-sopranos Rachel Calloway and
Peabody Southwell; tenors Dominic Armstrong and
Keith Jameson; baritone Kim Josephson; and bass-baritones Aubrey Allicock and Ashraf Sewailam. The work, co-commissioned by
Carnegie Hall, is directed by Mary Birnbaum. Also on the program is Mozart's Fantasia and Sonata in C Minor, K. 475/457 featuring pianist
Jeremy Denk.
THE PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRA
Friday, December 5 at 8:00 p.m.

Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin (pictured at right) leads The Philadelphia Orchestra in Brahms's Symphony No. 3 in F Major, Op. 90; Haydn's Cello Concerto in C Major, Hob. VIIb: 1 with Jean-Guihen Queyras; and R. Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier Suite.

NEW YORK STRING ORCHESTRA

The New York String Orchestra, featuring young musicians participating in the annual New York String Orchestra Seminar, returns to
Carnegie Hall for two evenings of performances conducted by Jaime Laredo (pictured at right). On
Wednesday, December 24 at 7:00 p.m., the orchestra performs an all-Mozart program including the overture to The Impresario; Symphony No. 39 in E-flat Major, K.543; and Oboe Concerto in C Major, K. 314 featuring soloist Liang Wang. On
Sunday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m., the orchestra is joined by violinist Augustin Hadelich for Barber's Violin Concerto, Op. 14. Also on the program is Tchaikovsky's Serenade in C Major for Strings, Op. 48, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68, "Pastoral".
