THE BLACK & WHITE BLUES, the New Orleans Restaurant Musical that has been performing at the Laurie Beechman Theatre at West Bank Café, 407 West 42nd Street, will go on hiatus after the Saturday evening performance, March 18th.
The New Orleans-based cast had been juggling preview performances with their personal recovery efforts back home, where they had been dealing with the aftermath of Katrina. Several cast members lost their homes – one is still waiting for her FEMA trailer for her family; the stress of commuting back and forth each week has been deemed to much, and producers have decided to wait and open the show later this season.
This southern-flavored musical revue is a hilarious look at the trials and tribulations of waiters, waitresses and the customers they serve. A must for anyone who has ever waited tables, served a customer or been to a restaurant!
With book and lyrics by Ricky Graham, and music by Harry Mayronne, this musical revue has sung to screams of delight in New Orleans, LA, where it has played for the last three years. THE BLACK & WHITE BLUES is directed by Ricky Graham and Heidi P. Junius, and features Heidi P. Junius, Jessie Terrebonne, Chris Wecklein, and Bob Edes Jr., all from the original production. Heidi will also provide musical staging and choreography, while Musical Director Harry Mayronne returns to the show to perform in NYC.
The show is being produced in New York by MARTIAN ENTERTAINMENT, LOEBER ENTERTAINMENT, and SOME PEOPLE.
Final performances are Wednesday and Thursday at 8pm, Friday and Saturday at 11pm, through March 18. The show runs 90 minutes with one ten-minute intermission. Remaining tickets, which are $45 for all seats/all performances, are available at TicketCentral.com, by phone at 212-279-4200 or at the Ticket Central Box Office at 416 West 42nd Street.
