The Asparagus Club Premiers Off-Broadway- A New Experience Reinventing Cabaret Theatre!

Bringing an air of sophistication and sensibility to the New York Cabaret scene, The Asparagus Club, Off-Broadway's newest cabaret destination presents it's debut performance featuring a double-bill of "delicate and enchanting" acts that are sure to "bring yesterday to today!" The Asparagus Club's opening performance will be tonight, June 24, 2014 at 7:30PM at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater.

For one night only, Award-Winning Onalea Gilbert and the Vagabond Orchestra team up with the "premiere vocal interpreter of the Duke Ellington songbook," Cleve Douglass. Produced by Lawrence. D Poster (Forbidden Broadway), The Asparagus Club promises a variety of wonderful acts that defy the conventional archetypes of Cabaret in New York City.

Onalea Gilbertson, award winning singer, actor and songwriter has created and performed with symphony orchestra, chamber ensemble, jazz band and in the theatre internationally. Having premiered three original shows at the New York Musical Theatre Festival: BLANCHE (2011 Huffington post top production); REQUIEM FOR A LOST GIRL; and David Rhymer's MATA HARI IN 8 BULLETS which will be performed at the Edinburgh festival this August.

For nearly two decades, Cleve Douglass has toured internationally working with some of the country's finest Jazz musicians. Today Cleve presents a myriad of genres including Jazz, R&B and standards from The Great American Songbook. Cleve wrote and performed "Nat 'King' Cole: Smooth Grooves" Off-Broadway. He has been nominated twice for Male Jazz Vocalist of the Year by The Manhattan Association of Clubs

This elegant experience breaks the boundaries of cabaret. Enjoy the intimacy of The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater as the audience and performers share the same space with a delicate and captivating evening of song.
