The Barrow Group Theatre Company presents its 16th Annual Celebrity Doodles Auction & Gala on
Monday, May 10th, 2010. Each year celebrities donate their artwork, or doodles, that are auctioned off in this annual fundraiser, at which The Barrow Group also honors individuals for their service to the arts and TBG. This year's honorees include Jon Marans and David Diamond.
The Barrow Group Theatre Company is honoring Jon Marans and David Diamond with its "The Barrow Group Award" at its 16th Annual Celebrity Doodles Auction & Gala. The event honors the recipients' service and commitment to the arts, and celebrates celebrity by auctioning personal artwork - doodles - of some of today's most beloved entertainers. Jon Marans' history with The Barrow Group goes back to 1996 when they presented (with Daryl Roth) the New York premier of "Old Wicked Songs", a play for which Mr Maran's was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Drama and the recipient of both the New York Drama League and the LA Drama Logue Awards. Mr Marans' most recent show "The Temperamentals" is currently on at New World Stages, having transferred from the Barrow Group's theatre, where it was extended twice before it was moved to the larger venue and has been nominated for a 2010 Lucille Lortel Award for best play and a GLAAD Media Award. David Diamond, founding member of The Barrow Group and longtime Trustee, will also be honored for
his 25 years of service to The Barrow Group and the arts community.
Past Honorees include Anne Hathaway, Nathan Lane, Judith Ivey, Ann Reinking, Denis O'Hare, Patrick Quinn, Tony Hale, Allen Coulter and Frank Carucci. Jude Law, Zach Galifianakis, Alfred Molina, Alice Ripley, Anna Chlumsky, Barry Humphries, Bill Irwin, David Hyde Pierce, Donald Trump, Eli Wallach, Emilie De Ravin, Faith Prince, Gina Gershon, Jay Leno, John Lithgow, Julie White, Abigail Breslin, Kelly O'Hara, Kristen Johnston, Lanford Wilson, Pierce Brosnan, Rue Mcclanhan, Sean Hayes, Tony Shalhoub, Tracy Morgan and the late June Havoc have all donated artwork for this year's auction along with many more of today's beloved entertainers. Other items up for auction include a Disney vacation, hotel stays at The Algonquin, Dinner for Two at The Landmarc, Broadway tickets and many dining, health and body and fashion must-haves.
The Gala is TBG's largest fundraising event, and provides resources for the company to continue its
programming excellence, both on the stage and in the community. The event will take place from 6:30 to 10:00 pm at the beautiful Midtown Loft, 267 Fifth Ave at 29th st, 11th floor. Cocktail attire is requested and tickets may be purchased at
