TADA! will present its 14th Annual Free Staged Reading Series.  The second reading in the series will be The Ribbon by Ashlee Taylor Moore; directed by Lester Thomas Shane. The reading will take place on Thursday, October 21 (National Mammography Day) at 5:00PM at the TADA! Theater (15 West 28 Street, between Broadway and 5th Avenue, 2nd floor).

"As a way to reach out to and developed the next generation of theatre goers and performers TADA!' s Annual Free Staged Reading Series are plays written by professional playwrights, for and about teens," state press notes.

"In the aftermath of her mother's death from breast cancer, 17 year old Jenna must confront her loss and pain. Between episodes of memory and fantasy, Jenna wanders through the haze of everyday life. As the burden of reality sets in she finds she must accept that she can't change or run away from her past," state press notes on The Ribbon.

"TADA! found that although teens have the final say as to 'what's hot' in music, fashion, food and other pop culture staples, teens remain under-represented in the world of theater—both as performers and as the subject of new plays.  Furthermore, as members of TADA!'s company, the Resident Youth Ensemble, grew up, they had less time to spend in rehearsals, and they wanted to do work that addressed their issues.  The winners of TADA!'s 2004-2005 Annual One-Act Playwriting Contest, selected by teens from the TADA! Resident Youth Ensemble and NYC theater professionals will be showcased during the 14th Annual Staged Reading Series.  Staged readings are performed by teens from the TADA! Resident Youth Ensemble with a few adult actors for adult roles.  Running times vary.  The series is made possible in part by the Gregory Millard Memorial Fund, the Axe-Houghton Foundation and the Dramatists Guild Fund, Inc."
