TACT/The Actor's Company Theatre will celebrate the remarkable success of its 2009/10 season and honor the accomplishments of one of the country's most renowned and recognizable actors, Sam Waterston, at its annual spring gala on Monday, May 3rd at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). The celebratory evening will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. TACT Co-Artistic Director and company member Simon Jones will serve as master of ceremonies and introduce the evening's entertainment set to commence at 8:30 p.m.

TACT company members Francesca Di Mauro, Todd Gearhart, Jack Koenig, Ron McClary, Margaret Nichols and Scott Schafer, as well as Broadway performers Katie Finneran (Promises, Promises; Noises Off), Alison Fraiser (Romance Romance, The Secret Garden), Julie Halston (Gypsy, The Women), Lee Roy Reams (42nd Street, The Producers), Karen Ziemba (Contact, Curtains) - and some surprise guests - will provide the evening's entertainment, including a special tribute to Mr. Waterson. For almost 50 years, Sam Waterston's consistently fine work has left an indelible impression in the minds of theatre, film and television audiences. Famous for maintaining the highest level of integrity in his performances, he is also known for his sense of humor, warmth, and passionate charitable causes. During the gala celebration, TACT will bestow on him the coveted Order of the TACT Empire (OTE) naming him "Sir Sam" (joining distinguished Dames, Julie Harris and Angela Lansbury).

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre is dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit, with a focus on creating theatre from its essence: the text and the actor's ability to bring it to life. This season, the company presented critically-acclaimed productions of Sidney Howard's The Late Christopher Bean and T. S. Eliot's The Cocktail Party.

TACT's celebrated company of actors was drawn together in 1992 by a love of the literature of the theatre. Since that time, they have grown to become a true ensemble: a group that has developed a common vocabulary and a technique based on their specific artistic vision and collective body of work. TACT company members, whose cumulative experience includes scores of significant roles on and off Broadway, in the country's finest regional theatres and in many films and television shows, have received Emmy, Obie, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards, in addition to several Tony nominations.
