Sutton Foster, Christian Borle & Kerry Butler Set for GILMORE GIRLS Musical Number

The April 15th issue of Entertainment Weekly reveals that FUN HOME composer Jeanine Tesori, who took home the Tony Award in 2015, has written an original score for a musical number to be featured in the third installment of Netflix's upcoming GILMORE GIRLS mini-movies. The program will stream on Netflix in the fall.

In addition, the site reveals that GILMORE GIRL producers Amy and Dan Sherman-Palladino have penned the lyrics to the production that will be performed by Tony Award winners Sutton Foster (VIOLET, ANYTHING GOES) and Christian Borle (SOMETHING ROTTEN,SMASH), as well as Kerry Butler, currently starring in Broadway's DISASTER!

Joked Sherman-Palladino, "It's all my pals I've worshipped from Broadway. We've ripped them out here!" The exec produced the 2013 Broadway production of VIOLET, featuring a score by Tesori. Foster earned a Tony nomination for the title role.

Netflix recently announced that they will revive the beloved drama as four 90-minute 'mini movies', written and directed by series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino. Series stars Lauren Graham (Broadway's GUYS AND DOLLS), Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop (Broadway's ANYTHING GOES) and Scott Patterson will reprise their roles. Also returning are Sean Gunn and Keiko Agena.

GILMORE GIRLS was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, and starred Lauren Grahamand Alexis Bledel. On October 5, 2000, the series debuted on the WB and remained a tent-pole to the network until it was canceled in its seventh season, ending on May 15, 2007 on the CW.

The show followed single mother Lorelai Gilmore (Graham) and her daughter, also named Lorelai but who prefers to be called Rory (Bledel), living in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The town is filled with colorful characters and is located approximately 30 minutes from Hartford, Connecticut.
