Metropolitan Playhouse, New York's OBIE Award-winning explorer of America's Theatrical Heritage, is currently accepting script submissions for the annual East Village Chronicles festival.
Scheduled for April 2017, the East Village Chronicles are an annual collection of new plays celebrating the neighborhoods of the Lower East Side and East Village of Manhattan. Accepted scripts will receive 6 performances in the theater's East Side Stories Festival. Playwrights will receive an honorarium of $50.

Parameters:
Subject. Plays must pertain specifically, though not necessarily exclusively, to the East Village and Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Length. No more than 30 minutes
Cast Size. Plays must be played by 5 or fewer actors.
Technical Requirements. The plays will be presented with at least three others in a single program, and so should not require elaborate set or properties.
Diverse Submissions Sought
In keeping with the eclectic and varied character of the neighborhood, Metropolitan seeks plays from as broad a range of perspectives as possible from playwrights of diverse backgrounds. Playwrights of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, gender identities, backgrounds, and political views are encouraged to apply.
