Stokes Mitchell, Stritch, Cerveris and More Appear at Nightlife Awards, Feb. 6

The 2006 Nightlife Awards at Town Hall on Monday, February 6 will be a star-studded celebration of the talent in New York City's nightclubs and cabarets.  The show will now includes two winners who made their cabaret debuts this past year: Elaine Stritch  and Brian Stokes Mitchell; both will perform.

Stritch (At Home at the Carlyle, Elaine Stritch At Liberty, Company) and Stokes Mitchell (Man of La Mancha, Ragtime, Kiss Me, Kate) will join legendary Nightlife honoree Eartha Kitt (Nine, Timbuktu!), who will also perform, as will such winners who are coming back to New York especially for the Nightlife Awards--Freddy Cole from Georgia, Sandy Stewart from Florida, and Jason Graae (Falsettos) from Los Angeles. "These and other great talents are performing at the 2006 Nightlife Awards to help promote the extraordinary artists that perform every night of the week, every week of the year in the clubs of New York. The winners were chosen by 27 critics and experts who cover cabaret, comedy and jazz," according to press notes. 


In addition to the above singers, former Nightlife Award winners who will perform include Bill Charlap, Karen Mason (Mamma Mia!, Sunset Boulevard), Kristen Schaal and Tom Andersen.  Tony Award-winner Karen Ziemba (Contact, Chicago), Marin Mazzie (Kiss Me Kate, Ragtime), Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris (Sweeney Todd, Assassins), playwright/performer Charles Busch (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife), playwright John Patrick Shanley (Doubt), composer/lyricist William Finn (Spelling Bee, Falsettos), comedian Judy Gold (25 Questions for a Jewish Mother), Cheryl Benteyne, lyricist David Zippel (The Woman in White, City of Angels) and Lee Roy Reams (42nd Street, Hello, Dolly!) will be among the presenters; some will perform, as well.
