Stockholm: CATS! Reeks With Scandal

The company of Cats in Stockholm is certainly having difficulty keeping the drama confined to the stage, according to a report in Stockholm's The Local yesterday.  Backstage, scandal has rocked the company, as one cast member has been targeted for sexual harassment against several of the female performers.

Included in the sexual harassment allegations are inappropriate comments and groping behind the scenes.  Tension escalated last night when the offender in question received a feces-filled show in his dressing locker with a note that read: "stop harassing us."

Says Cats producer Lars Damberg in the Expressen newspaper: "We had a crisis meeting last weekend and an internal investigation is underway."

All the while, the production has played to packed houses and has been a darling amongst the critics since opening at Stockholm's Cirkus theatre on September 9th.

The Cirkus was inaugurated in1892 to house the large contemporary circus company. Over the years the circus has become a community center with events such as concerts, conferences, television recordings, but most of all theater, musicals and shows. The Cirkus best known for being the musical the arena in which Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus' works, including Kristina, Chess and Mamma Mia! have premiered and have entertained over millions of people. The Cirkus is currently owned by Live Nation.
