Stewart F. Lane to Give Keynote at Columbia University's 'REMOTE CONTROL' Symposium

Six-time Tony Award-inning producer Stewart F. Lane will deliver the keynote address at "Remote Control: Disruptive Technologies in Entertainment, Art, and Sports Law," an annual symposium hosted by Columbia University's Entertainment, Art, and Sports Law Society.

The event, to be held this Friday, April 1st, from 9AM to 1PM at Columbia's Jerome Green Hall (435 W 116th St), will focus on the legal issues presented by alternative means of consuming traditional media.

Last fall, Mr. Lane, along with Bonnie Comley, launched BroadwayHD, an online streaming service for theatrical events and productions. Mr. Lane will be introduced by Steven Chaikelson, Head of the Theatre Management & Producing Concentration at Columbia School of the Arts.

In addition to Mr. Lane's keynote, Karen Sandler, Executive Director of the Software Freedom Conservancy, will moderate a panel on disruptive technologies, with panelists Toby Butterfield, partner at Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, and Bryan Tallevi, Senior Counsel at NBCUniversal News Group. Anthony M. Ramirez, an associate in the Technology Transactions Group of Morrison & Foerster, will moderate a panel on virtual reality, with presentations by Ziv Schneider, an artist working in virtual reality; Mark Sternberg, co-founder of the virtual reality firm REVRIE Immersive Works; and Jeff Marsilio, VP of Global Media at the NBA.
