The League of Gentlemen's Steve Pemberton will join the cast of the London production of the five-time Tony Award winning The Drowsy Chaperone to play Man in Chair. Pemberton will take over from Bob Martin on July 10

"Steve Pemberton is a quarter of the hugely successful award-winning British comedy team The League of Gentlemen," explain press notes, "In 2001 he appeared in the West End in the sell-out run of The League of Gentlemen at Theatre Royal Drury Lane and in 2002 he played Marc in Art at the Whitehall Theatre. His television work includes three series of 'The League of Gentlemen' for the BBC as co-writer and actor and appearances in 'Death on the Nile,' 'Shameless' and 'Gormenghast.' His film and TV work includes 'The Life and Death of Peter Sellers,' 'Churchill: The Hollywood Years' and 'The League of Gentleman's Apocalypse' and 'The League of Gentlemen Are Behind You' in which he both starred and co-wrote."

The London cast of The Drowsy Chaperone features Joseph Alessi (Aldolpho), Selina Chilton (Kitty), Enyonam Gbesemete (Trix), Nickolas Grace (Underling), Nick Holder (Feldzeig), Cameron Jack (Gangster 2), Sean Kingsley (George), Bob Martin (Man in Chair), Elaine Paige (Drowsy Chaperone), John Partridge (Robert Martin), Anne Rogers (Tottendale), Adam Stafford (Gangster 1) and Summer Strallen (Janet Van De Graaff).

To chase his blues away, a die-hard musical theatre fan drops the needle on his favourite cast album– the 1928 musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone. From the crackle of his hi-fi, the outrageously funny musical bursts to life in his living room.

The London production of The Drowsy Chaperone opened at the Novello Theatre on June 6, 2007.  The Drowsy Chaperone opened at the Marquis Theatre in New York in May last year and has since become the most celebrated musical on Broadway, receiving the most 2006 Tony Awards of any musical including Best Book and Best Score.

Performances are Monday – Saturday at 7.45PM; Wednesday matinees at 3PM; and Saturday matinees at 4PM.  Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 0870-950-0935 or visit www.drowsychaperone.com.
