Spamalot star Steve Kazee will play charismatic rainmaker Starbuck to Audra McDonald's Lizzie in the upcoming Broadway revival of 110 in the Shade.

The production, presented by the Roundabout Theatre Company, will begin previews on April 13th, 2007 at Studio 54 for a May 9th opening.  It will play a limited run through July 15th.

The show features music by Harvey Scmidt, lyrics by Tom Jones (both of The Fantasticks) and a book by Nash.

"The mercurial Starbuck promises rain for a drought-stricken town and passion for the stalwart but resigned Lizzie," state press notes for the show, which ran for 330 performances when it opened in 1963.  The original production starred Inga Swenson, Robert Horton and Stephen Douglass.

The Roundabout production will be directed by Lonny Price, with choreography by
Dan Knechtges, musical direction by Paul Gemignani, orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, sets and costumes by Santo Loquasto, lighting by Christopher Akerlind and sound by Dan Moses Schreier.

Kazee most recently appeared as Sir Lancelot in the Broadway production of Spamalot.  He served as the understudy for the role of Leslie in the recent Broadway revival of Seascape, and also appeared at the Delacorte Theatre in As You Like It.  Regionally, he has appeared in shows such as The Subject Was Roses.

McDonald won Tony Awards for her performances in Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime and most recently, A Raisin in the Sun. She has also appeared on Broadway in Henry IV and Marie Christine. McDonald's film and television credits include It Runs in the Family, "Mister Sterling," "The Bedford Diaries," Cradle Will Rock, "Law and Order: SVU," the telemusical of Annie, and the HBO movie Wit. She is also acclaimed as a concert artist, and recently released her fourth solo CD, "Build a Bridge."

No other casting has been announced.
