Stephen Schwartz's new musical, SCHIKANEDER just opened in Vienna, and according to the New York Post, Broadway might be next. Michael Riedel writes that major New York and London producers (including Cameron Mackintosh and the Mirvishes) have already checked out the new musical. Furthermore, director Trevor Nunn reportedly has his eyes on Hugh Jackman for a future production.

SCHIKANEDER-the turbulent love story behind The Magic Flute- is a romantic musical comedy about the actor, singer, director, writer and impresario Emanuel Schikaneder and his wife, Eleonore Schikaneder made its world premiere on September 30, 2016. It continues the VBW's tradition of creating new in-house productions - the autumn production of SCHIKANEDER is the Raimund Theater's twelfth world premiere musical.
