Presented by Arts Brookfield, Stephen Petronio Company will perform RainForest, Merce Cunningham's iconic 20th-century masterpiece, and Petronio's Locomotor/Non Locomotor, on the Winter Garden stage at Brookfield Place (230 Vesey St., New York) on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Both performances are free and open to the public.

Stephen Petronio Company originally performed RainForest (1968) and Locomotor/Non Locomotor (2015) to critical acclaim in April 2015 with the launch of Bloodlines, a five-year project incorporating works by trailblazers of American postmodern dance into the company's repertory, and presenting them alongside new works by Stephen Petronio.

"We are delighted to bring Stephen Petronio Company's skilled dancers and ambitious choreography to Winter Garden at Brookfield Place," said Debra Simon, vice president and artistic director of Arts Brookfield. "Arts Brookfield has a long tradition of presenting artists who create original works such as Locomotor/Non Locomotor and RainForest. It is sure to be another groundbreaking performance."

"What a wonderful opportunity to perform some of our favorite works in a setting that finds an audience we rarely reach in Manhattan," said Stephen Petronio. "We're happy to offer audiences the chance to see the Company perform Locomotor/Non Locomotor and RainForest in an unusual space, before we launch our second season of Bloodlines at The Joyce Theatre on March 8."

For the daytime performance from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m., Locomotor depicts dancers careening forward and backward through time and space, while Non Locomotor explores movement deep within a torqing center, sending surges of action throughout the body while remaining stationary in space. The full work features an original score by electronic pioneer Clams Casino (Michael Volpe), with vocal elements by the Young People's Chorus of New York City; costumes by Narciso Rodriguez, one of America's foremost designers; and lighting design by Petronio's longtime collaborator Ken Tabachnick.

For the evening performance from 7:30 - 9:15 p.m., following Locomotor/Non Locomotor, the audience will journey into Petronio's choreographic lineage through Merce Cunningham's iconic RainForest. The work is a foray into animal abstract motion and sound, set loose amidst a world of floating silver pillows, with decor by Andy Warhol and live electronic musical score composed by David Tudor.

Stephen Petronio Company dancers are Davalois Fearon, Kyle Filley, Gino Grenek, Cori Kresge, Jaqlin Medlock, Tess Montoya, Nicholas Sciscione, Emily Stone, and Joshua Tuason.
