Steinway Hall presents pianist, Katie Reimer, in a solo tour featuring music by J.S. Bach, Johannes Brahms, and living composers Daniel Bernard Roumain and Mohammed Fairouz. The program will open with two Preludes and Fugues from J.S. Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1, each intended for a different keyboard instrument, one harpsichord (G Major), and another, organ (Eb minor). This will be followed by Johannes Brahms' poetic suite, Klavierstücke, Op. 118, a work composed late in his life, and dedicated to Clara Schumann.

The second half of the program is dedicated to works by two living composers, beginning with Daniel Bernard Roumain's Jam!, a short and rhythmic piece for solo piano. Roumain, known as DBR, proves that he's "about as omnivorous as a contemporary artist gets" (New York Times), as his collaborations span the worlds of Philip Glass, Cassandra Wilson, and Lady Gaga.

Mohammed Fairouz's Piano Sonata No. 2, "The Last Resistance," will close the program, a major sonata commissioned by Reach Out Kansas, Inc. in 2011 for pianist Steven Spooner. The dramatic work takes its inspiration from a collection of essays by Jacqueline Rose, which bears the same title.

The program features pianist Katie Reimer, acclaimed by the New York Times for her "meditative" playing, who is currently the Pianist, Artistic and Executive Director of the Mimesis Ensemble, a New York City based group dedicated to music from the 20th and 21st centuries. She has performed extensively as a solo and chamber pianist, and was engaged by Bridge Records and Sono Luminus for commercial recordings. Reimer is an alumni of Lawrence Conservatory of Music, and the Boston Conservatory, with studies through IES in Vienna, Austria.

The concert is set for Tuesday, June 11, 6:00pm Steinway Hall, 109 W. 57th Street, New York, NY. Tickets are $10 General Admission; $5 Students. *Advance tickets only (NO sales at the door). Visit www.brownpapertickets.com/event/346155? to purchase tickets.
