Staten Island Children's Museum's Earth Day And Spring Events Begin April 16

Staten Island Children's Museum announces events for April 16-22. The Staten Island Children's Museum appeals to the intrepid explorer in every child. Interactive exhibitions and creative workshops offer plenty of opportunities for hands-on, first hand experiences that nurture children's natural curiosity and creativity. Visits to the museum launch children on a voyage of discovery - about themselves and the world around them.

April 16
Kids cook every Friday at 2, 3 & 4 p.m.
Health Plus Kidz Cook - Energy Bars
When you are getting ready for some spring outdoor activities, you'll need some extra energy.
These energy bars make a great snack, are easy to take on a picnic and supplies instant energy.

April 17
Who's Who in the Honey Bee Hive
Who is in charge in the bee hive. Play the "Who's Who "game and find out about drones, workers and the Queen! The game begins at 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30 p.m.
Saturdays- April 17 at 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30 p.m.

April 17 & 18
Spring Banners
Spring, Spring, Spring said the ground hog it is SPRING! Everything is bursting out. Draw and paint spring flowers and bugs and help make some picturesque banners. Artist Janice Patrignani will help visitors design silk banners that will hang in the museum.
Saturday & Sunday, April 17 & 18 at 1, 2 & 3 p.m.

The Zoo Too!
In the springtime, we see many animals. Visit with some with our friends at the Staten Island Zoo. 2 p.m.
Saturday - April 17 at 2 p.m.

April 22 - Thursday
Happy Earth Day - A hike with Mike - 3:30 p.m.
Join our Exhibits Manager and local naturalist Mike Shanley for a short hike around the beautiful grounds of Snug Harbor in Spring. Children will have the chance to explore Snug Harbor's natural habitats and gardens as well as learn a bit about Snug Harbor¹s historic past. We will visit the pond in search of turtles and other pond critters as well as get a chance to see the many types of birds that migrate through the park in spring. Parents are welcome! We will be meeting by the preying mantis in the front of the museum. Paint the Earth
Thursday is paint day! - 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.


Wednesday, Thursday & Friday - WIW programs are free with Museum admission.
Clay Day-Wednesdays- Aspiring sculptors can create works of art with special air-dry clay.
Paint Day - Thursdays - Picasso may have started like this!

Kidz Cook- Fridays- Future chefs practice recipes and sample some fancy food.While at the Museum, families can visit hands-on, fabulous interactive exhibits: Block Harbor, The Big Game, Bugs and Other Insects, Great Explorations, Portia's Playhouse, Sea of Boats, Ladder 11, D.B.'s Fantastic Machines & House About It! and more! Museum Hours are noon - 5 p.m. when NYCity public schools are open and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. when NYCity public schools are closed (including weekends). Admission is $6 per person; children under 1 and members are admitted free. Every day, join Animal Time when youngsters can assist our educators in caring for our birds, bugs, fish and guinea pig. Telling tales out of school is okay everyday when visitors hear stories from around the world. Grandparents are admitted free on Wednesdays.
