The Staten Island Children's Museum has announced their schedule of events for January, 2011.

January 1 - New Year's Day - Sat., SICM closed

January 2 - Snowflakes!
Design & decorate a sparkling creation.
Sun., 2, 3 & 4 p.m.

Cold as Ice - Some frozen food for the winter blues!
Health Plus Kids Cook - Kidz cook every Friday.
Cooking begins at 2, 3 & 4 p.m.
January 7 - Snow cones
January 14 - Fruit Sorbet
January 21 - Snowballs
January 28 - Iced Hot Chocolate

Be inspired by mosaics from around the world to create your own with artist Ryan McGivern.
Saturday & Sunday -January 8 & 9 and January 22 & 23 at 1, 2, & 3 p.m.
Sat. & Sun., 1, 2 & 3 p.m.

Learn how to use oil pastels with artist Janice Patrignani. Then, create a winter wonderland landscape. Saturdays & Sundays - January 15 & 16 and January 29 & 30 at 1, 2 & 3 p.m.

Children love painting, drawing and playing with clay, they want to know techniques for using art materials that will help them create masterpieces. The weekend workshops are geared to help kids learn all about art techniques and more while interacting with professional artists who are experienced teachers. The programs are funded by a generous grant from the Staten Island Foundation.

Monday - 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

There is ample free parking and convenient access via public transportation on the S40 bus from the Ferry Terminal.

THE STATEN ISLAND CHILDREN'S MUSEUM IS HOUSED IN A BUILDING OWNED BY THE CITY OF NEW YORK AND ITS OPERATION IS MADE POSSIBLE, IN PART, WITH PUBLIC FUNDS PROVIDED THROUGH THE NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS WITH SUPPORT FROM THE STATEN ISLAND DELEGATION TO THE NEW YORK CITY COUNCIL AND THE STATEN ISLAND BOROUGH PRESIDENT.   SIGNIFICANT OPERATING SUPPORT IS ALSO PROVIDED BY THE NEW YORK STATE OFFICE OF PARKS, RECREATION & HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND THE NEW YORK STATE COUNCIL ON THE ARTS, CORPORATIONS, FOUNDATIONS & MEMBERS.
