Staten Island Children's Museum Announces Family Events 4/23 - 4/30

The Staten Island Children's Museum announces its familiy events for April 23rd through April 30th. The week includes hands-on activities such as cooking and painting. Besides the events, familes can also visit the interactive exhibits. The museum is opened from 12 PM to 5 PM when New York City public schools are open and from 10 AM to 5 PM when the schools are closed.

On Fridays, April 23rd and April 30th, the family event is "Kidz Cook" where future chefs practice recipes and sample food. The main dish on the 23rd is smoothies made from Agave Nectar and on the 30th, fruit kabobs will be made. The times for this event are 2 PM, 3 PM, and 4 PM.

On April 24th and 25th, the family event consist of decorating rocks into pet insects. The times for this event on Saturday and Sunday are at 1 PM, 2 PM, and 3 PM.

Wednesday, the 27th, is "Clay Day" where the Museum allows children to create works of art using special air-dry clay from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

The following day, the 28th, is "Paint Day." Children are given paints and paper to create their own Picasso-like masterpieces. Times is scheduled between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM.

Every day the Museum hosts story time as well as feeding time where children can join Museum educators care for the birds, bugs, and other animals.

The Staten Islando Children's Museum is located at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, 1000 Richmond Terrace, just minutes away from the Clove Road exit off the Staten Island Expressway. Call for directions. There is ample free parking and convenient access via public transportation on the S40 bus from the Ferry Terminal. Admission is $6 per person; children under 1 and members are admitted free. Grandparents are admitted free on Wednesdays.
