Phoebe Robinson, a stand-up comedian and best selling author, is set to perform at Manhattan's legendary Cutting Room on Thursday February 1st with special guests APARNA NANCHERLA and DAVE HILL.
In addition to co-hosting the hugely popular 2DopeQueens podcast, her book, You Can't Touch My Hair, a collection of essays on race, gender and pop culture, was a New York Times Best Seller upon its release in 2016, where it was praised as moving, poignant, and hilarious. Ms. Robinson has also been featured on Conan, Late Night with Seth Meyers and Broad City.
Equal parts hilarious and empowering, the February 1st event, will also serve to benefit Planned Parenthood of New York City with a portion of sales going to the Margaret Sanger Health Center.
Joining Robinson on stage will be an impressive cast of New York's funniest performers, including APARNA NANCHERLA, "a comic in demand for her quirky, relatable and punchy humor" (NY Times) as well as ALI KOLBERT, an up-and-coming performer who once worked as an NBC page and who recently made her television debut on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
Additionally, there will be live music from REFORMED WHORES, the Brooklyn based duo self-described as "Southern-Fried feminism with a side of crass and a tall glass of sass." Plus, DAVE HILL, a prolific comedian who has appeared on Inside Amy Schumer and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, will serve a the evening's Master of Ceremonies.
Presented exclusively at the Cutting Room, an elegant tavern beloved by performers like Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper, and the late Joan Rivers, this one night only event promises big laughs, hot takes, and also heartfelt social outreach.
Laura McQuade, President and CEO, Planned Parenthood of New York City, writes
"We are so inspired to see supporters stepping up to make sure that New Yorkers-and all people-have access to the high-quality and affordable health care they need and deserve. This is one of the toughest political environments Planned Parenthood has ever faced. So let's be real-we've never needed to laugh quite as much as we do right now. We can't thank Phoebe Robinson and the other hilarious comics enough for delivering much-needed comedy-and for supporting our work."
