Aurora Comedy Nights Kick Off Tonight with Big Kenney, Robin Henry and Karen Hilton

Aurora Theatre has been hosting the best local and national comedians since they opened their new location in 2007. Last season, the series outgrew the name Funny Fridays when Aurora discovered that folks love to laugh every night of the week. This season, Aurora Comedy Nights will be hosted by bright young comedienne Katie Causey, who will serve as host of the newly named series. Katie is a member of multiple improv and sketch comedy groups in Athens and in Atlanta. She is a recent UGA grad and an alumnus of the very first Aurora Theatre Apprentice Company. Aurora Comedy Nights celebrates another great year of club comedy performances on the square in downtown Lawrenceville with headliner Big Kenney. He will be joined by comediennes Robin Henry and Karen Hilton tonight, July 20 at 7:15pm & 9:15pm.

Big Kenney's unique and zesty brand of reality-based humor and storytelling is universal in appeal, and has proven to be a real crowd-pleaser. Big Kenney is a Primary Player of Atlanta's own BlackTop Improv comedy troupe, the nation's only improvisational comedy troupe comprised of professional black comedians. Big Kenney's quick wit and funny characters, draws in the audience and holds their attention. An Aurora favorite, Big Kenney has ignited the stage while opening for some of the nation's biggest comedy stars. He is now headlining around the country, and entertaining our troops around the globe.

Robin Henry is a comedian, writer and a lovable smart-ass. Her passion is to make people laugh. She has worked as a writer on the Tyler Perry sitcoms House of Payne, Meet the Browns and for the nationally syndicated radio program, The Rickey Smiley Show. You can catch her performing stand-up around Atlanta and the Southeast. In 2012, Robin was a finalist in the Atlanta Improv's talent search for comedians judged by the legendary Budd Friedman.

Karen Hilton was born in Savannah and raised in Tennessee, Karen was sheltered from things that were cool (Sorry, Tennessee). Her first stage performance was a production of Peter Pan with her kindergarten class. The class was supposed to sing a song together. Three lines into the song, Karen ran off stage to her mother's arms where she cried and threw up. Karen Hilton first performed stand-up in 2007 at Relapse Theater. She has performed all over Atlanta and Athens. Her clever, soft-spoken style makes her a must-see.
