Don't miss this chance to see a staged reading of Roger Feuerman's musical comedy The Harlem Ladies' Knittin' and Bitchin' Society, with proceeds going to support the charitable programs of The Episcopal Actors' Guild.
The musical, set in 1930s Harlem, tells the salacious story of a rapscallion and three women whose lives intertwine in a web of love and intrigue. LaVonda, Nichelle, and Camille agree their shared ex-lover, Julian Saint James, has done the crime, but not the time. After calling a meeting of The Harlem Ladies' Knittin' and Bitchin' Society, a plan is hatched...but in their topsy-turvy world where nothing is as it seems, their plan is just the beginning.
The cast includes T. Oliver Reid (Sister Act, Mary Poppins, MAC Award Winner), Bryonha Marie Parham (After Midnight, Porgy and Bess), Rosalind Brown (Ain't Misbehavin, Footloose) and Kenita R. Miller (Xanadu, The Color Purple, Parade). Gerry McIntyre (Chicago, Joseph...Dreamcoat) will direct.
Feuerman's musical was previously selected by York Theatre Company for their acclaimed Developmental Reading Series. This performance is being produced in partnership with Asparagus Entertainment LLC and Lawrence D. Poster.
The Episcopal Actors' Guild was founded in 1923, and offers emergency financial assistance and career support to New York performers "of all faiths, and none." More at www.actorsguild.org.
