The 2013 Stage Directions High School Theatre Honors Program is underway! The sixth annual celebration of the best of high school theatre in America is now accepting nominations of schools that make the grade. Anyone can nominate a worthy school with a theatre program that combines a solid educational curriculum with outstanding showmanship. Schools can be nominated online at: www.stage-directions.com/tophighschools.
"The arts are a vital part of everyone's education," said Jacob Coakley, editor of Stage Directions. "And the 2013 Stage Directions High School Theatre Honors Program is our way of recognizing those schools who continue to dedicate their time, energy and resources to insuring the next generation of theatre artists and audiences have the opportunity to engage with the art."
Nominations are open at www.stage-directions.com/tophighschools, and anyone-students, parents, teachers or fans-can nominate a school. And while each person can only nominate one school, a school can be nominated as many time as it has people who support it. In addition to the open nomination process, Stage Directions will also conduct an informal survey of teachers, professors and recruiters across the country to find schools that excel. The winners from each region (Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest and Canada) will be profiled in the November issue.
"The vibrancy of theatre education across the country is always inspiring," said Stage Directions Publisher Terry Lowe. "We look forward to hearing from all the excellent programs!"
High Schools can be nominated for the award at www.stage-directions.com/tophighschools.
