Stage Adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE Set for FringeNYC, 8/10-20

True False Theatre, in association with The Present Company as part of the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival, present SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE a new play by Daria Tavana, based on Kurt Vonnegut classic novel of the same name. SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE will be presented at Fringe Venue #5 The Celebration of Whimsy aka The C.O.W. (formerly The Living Theatre) (21 Clinton Street) in Manhattan. The production will run August 10-20.

In the True False Theatre production of SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE, Billy Pilgrim escapes death in WWII then wakes up with a porn-star on the planet Tralfamadore. After aliens show him the meaning of life, Billy returns home to New York and preaches their philosophy.

Directed by Jenny Beth Snyder, SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE has a cast that includes Bruce Bluett, Rachel Berger, Anni Weisband, Christopher Travlos, Lena Hudson, Jamie Effros*, Zane Roberts, Quinn Coughlin and Dorothy James (*Appearing courtesy of AEA).

The design and production team is Zachary Sitrin (set design), Liene Dobraja (costume design), Sara Gosses (lighting design), Dan Acampa and Aidan Meyer (sound design), Scott Fetterman (projection design), Joe Raik (prop design), Ankita Raturi (assistant director), Jane Dibartolo (assistant stage manager) and Tyler Winthrop (stage manager).

Daria Tavana is the Co-Founder & Artistic Director of True False Theatre. She is a NYC-based writer, director, designer, and producer of independent theatre, as well as, a published poet. Playwright/Producer credits include: A SLEEPING HOUND TO WAKE, BEDSPREAD, FIREWORK FOR REAL, CHERRAPUNJEE INSUFFICIENCY, SLOW MOTION OCEAN WAVE, and JAKE & GIACOMO. Jenny Beth Snyder is a Brooklyn-based theater maker. She is the Co-Founder of theatre company Fresh Ground Pepper NYC and resident director for True False Theater's underSTUDY residency program. She is a current member of the Lincoln Center Director's Lab. Select NYC Credits include: A MAN OF MY WORD, MOTEL CHERRY, FOOT FETISH, IDEAL, and LAST DAYS OF JUDAS ISCARIOT. Jenny has a B.F.A. from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a focus in Directing.

True False Theatre (TFT) is a non-profit performing arts company in New York City. TFT challenges the imagination and celebrates the ways in which desire and impulse define human relationships through the creation of fresh, fearless theatre.
