Michael Amante, the "People's Tenor" that can sing it all is coming to the St. George Theatre on May 15th for one show only.

Movie-star handsome, Michael Amante began singing in Catholic school when he was six. Amante, who grew up in Syracuse, New York, was one of five children. As a boy, he marveled at how his father could always sweep his mother off her feet simply by singing to her in a lilting light tenor voice. "I wanted to do that," he says, "to make people feel that good." This second generation Italian-American, known as the "Prince of the High Cs" with his four octave range, combines an operatic tenor's debonair, old-world finesse with the sheer adrenaline rush he discovered as a teenager when his tenor voice first made itself known soaring with the sound of rock bands.

One of the most versatile and gifted performers in the world, Amante sings in a variety of languages, including Italian, Spanish, French, German and Latin. He also regularly records and performs a mind blowing array of styles from High Classical to Pop/Rock to Gospel and Broadway.

On stage, Amante exhibits the rare talent common to singers who bring grandeur to their material: he inhabits a song giving it a life of its own. In fact, working with the respected stage and film star Tony LoBianco, Michael has developed into a credible thespian, with roles ranging from the stage incarnations of Danny Zuko in Grease, Tony in West Side Story, both Jesus and Judas (now there's a challenge) in Jesus Christ, Superstar, to opera parts as Rodolfo in Puccini's La Boehme, B.F. Pinkerton in Puccini's Madame Butterfly, and Turiddu in Mascagni's Cavaleria Rusticana. An Amante concert audience gets more than Michael: it really gets Rodolfo, Tony and Danny Zuko, as the artist makes his electrifying way through a repertoire of Broadway and Opera numbers. A Michael Amante concert is an experience unto itself.

Don't miss the opportunity to experience the Michael Amante in the intimate setting of the St. George Theatre, 35 Hyatt Street, Staten Island on Saturday May 15th. Showtime is 8 pm. Tickets start at just $15. The St. George is only two blocks from the Staten Island Ferry and a short ferry ride from Manhattan or a short drive from New Jersey.
