The John Montgomery Theatre Company and Horse Trade will present Bob Brader's new monologue, Spitting in the Face of the Devil, at the Red Room, located at 85 East 4th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.  Performances will be Mondays at 7pm beginning on May 7, continuing through July 2. The show will be directed by Suzanne Bachner, who also directed her play We Call Her Benny as part of the first-ever FRIGID New York Festival.

The playwright's author, Robert A. Brader, Sr. died on March 3, 2003. Spitting in the Face of the Devil is described in the press release as, "a daring and highly personal solo show in the vein of Spalding Gray and Mike Daisey.  The show is about the death of the author's father, a terrifying and abusive ex-Marine, and their tension-filled relationship, which is contrasted with the love of his supportive mother.  The father harbors a huge secret which will be revealed halfway through the piece; this revelation comes as a gigantic and shocking surprise not only to the author, but also to the audience, who discovers this information along with him."

Bob Brader attended the Tisch School of the Arts, working with the Stella Adler Conservatory.  Some of his New York Theatre roles include Harold, Kumel, and Johnny in Girls School Vampire and Caesar in the 2002 OOBR award-winning production of DMTheatric's Antony and Cleopatra.  He is the Artistic Associate of The John Montgomery Theatre Company.

Spitting in the Face of the Devil will run Mondays at 7PM, beginning on May 7 and continue through July 2 (please note: there is no performance on May 28). Performances will be at the Red Room, located at 85 East 4th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Tickets are $20, $10 student and seniors with ID; to purchase, call (212) 868-4444 or visit www.horseTRADE.info.
