Artistic Director Paula J. Riley, "PJ" as she is nicknamed says, "Seasoned theatre goers need to have stories to which they can viscerally relate. This was inspired along with Wrinkles Playwright Robert F. Benjamin (Parted Waters, Time Enough) for the SALT & PEPPER SERIES." WRINKLES is an innovative collection of intertwined, whimsical plays, that celebrate aging with grace, courage and humor. The Plays feature a strong "seasoned" ensemble cast which includes; Anthony Robb., Aston Crosby, Bonnie Loren, Arlene Love, Wendy Merritt, Barbara Miluski, Stu Richel, and Judy Stadt. Directed by Paula J. Riley.
The 55 seat Theater is intimate, warm and inviting. Cooling colors accent the theatrical lighting, and prepare the audience for an interactive theatrical experience.
The concept, originally designed and conceived by Paula's long time mentor Iza Itkin and which Ms. Riley has named The Spiral, symbolizes eternal movement, integrating inner and outer intention.
The Spiral Theatre Studio is locaetd at 242 West 36th Street 3 rd Floor (Between 7th and 8th Avenues) NYC At Paul Micheal's The Network.
12 PERFORMANCES ONLY!Paula J. Riley was born in the proverbial theatrical trunk. Her parents were comedian Larry Best and singer Susan Brewster, who worked the Borscht Belt circuit after meeting on the Major Bowes Radio Show. Ms. Riley was a charter member of Iza Itkin's repertory theatre company, The Chamber Theater, in Manhattan. Iza was the daughter of David Itkin of the famed Goodman Theatre in Chicago. There, she studied the art of improvisation, which led Ms. Riley to a deeper understanding of herself as well as the intricacies of acting. This would have a lasting and profound influence upon how she would later teach. She began to coach actors and conducted classes in 2000, using improvisation as a main device. She developed the "Primary Principles of Acting" process (PPA) and began the "From Scratch to Script" three-month workshops, scene and monologue study workshops. She continues private coaching for actors.
