Special Guest Carmen De Lavallade to Appear at Balance Dance Theatre Fall Reception

Carmen de Lavallade, dance icon, actress, choreographer, and winner of the 2007 prestgous Capezio Award and wife of the infamous Geoffrey Holder will be a special guest at the Blance Dance Theatre 2008 Post Show Reception, October 17, 2008 at the Long Island University Kumble Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Carmen Devallade, star soloist for the Lester Horton, John Butler and Alvin Ailey companies, as well as the prima ballerina for the Metropolitan Opera, still twirls with infinite grace. Ms De Lavallade along with husband Geoffrey recently attended a screening of Carmen and Geoffrey, an enormously entertaining new protrait of the couple by film makers Linda Atkinson and Nick Doob and joined Jennifer Dunning, dance critic of The New York Times at an onstage interview.

2008 Friday October 17th Capezio's 2007 Award Winner Carmen de Lavallade, will host a VIP reception in support of Obediah Wright's (obediah.com) Balance Dance Theatre, a Brooklyn based grass roots organization that utilizes dance, music and artistic expression to create programs that educate and empower the community.

Performance will begin at 730 sharp @ Kumble Theatre for the Performing Arts, 1 University Place, Brooklyn NY11201 located @ Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus

The VIP reception will commence at 9:15. Invited guests include, 2 time Emmy award winner Actor, Keith David,

Broadway Star Judd Jones, Award winning writer, director, actress, Micki Grant, Award winning choreographer, director, dancer, Louis Johnson. The price of admission is $75.00 (includes performance and reception) and is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
