Tony winning actor Kevin Spacey is among the recipients of the 30th Annual Common Wealth Awards for Distinguished Service, which will be hosted by PNC Bank, Delaware, on Sunday, April 25th at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington.

The Common Wealth Awards, celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, recognize those who have enriched the world community. Honorees each take home $50,000 after attending an April 25 black-tie, invitation-only dinner at Wilmington's Hotel du Pont.

The event is hosted by PNC Bank, Delaware, which administers a trust established by the late Ralph Hayes, a Wilmington business executive and philanthropist. Hayes hoped to inspire greatness by rewarding excellence in eight fields: dramatic arts, literature, science, invention, mass communications, public service, government, and sociology. Other 2009 honorees include historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, famed astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and dynamic novelist Don DeLillo

Since 1979, $4.6 million has been awarded to 169 honorees, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, author Toni Morrison, children's TV icon Fred Rogers, Queen Noor of Jordan, actors Sidney Poitier and Meryl Streep, astronaut John Glenn and ocean explorer Robert Ballard.
