Callbacks will be held Sunday, December 12th from 11 am to 5 pm. Validated parking is available in the Canal Place parking garage.

THE NORMAN CONQUESTS by Alan Ayckbourn is a trilogy of places featuring six actors. The role of Reg will be played by New Orleans favorite Ricky Graham, and the role of Ruth will be played by Southern Rep Artistic Director Aimée Hayes. The production will have a five-week rehearsal period (April 12-May 18, 2011) and runs May 19th and through June 6th, 2011.
Director Damon W. Arrington notes: "Ayckbourn's plays are peculiarly English... They are closely observed masterpieces of English idiosyncratic behavior and quirkiness."

AVAILABLE ROLES
All roles require a British Dialect
SARAH - AGE: 30s - 40s
Ethnically Diverse. Sarah is controlling and manipulative. Unhappily Married to Reg. As it turns out, Sarah, who feels hard done by, would welcome an opportunity to relax and is actually thrilled with the frisson of an affair with Norman. Sarah is trapped in obsessive house cleaning, self-pitying martyrdom, interference and descending into tears when she doesn't get her own way!

ANNIE - AGE: 20s - 30s
Caucasian. The downtrodden, unmarried Annie, who for years has been trapped taking care of her invalid mother in a big Victorian house in the country. Annie longs for Norman and has planned a weekend away for the two of them, but it falls apart when her sister-in-law intervenes. Annie has a huge sense of duty and responsibility, but can be easily swayed when fantasy intercedes. Can become an exploding child at the drop of a pin.

NORMAN - AGE: 20s - 30s - FULL BEARD
Ethnically Diverse. Norman is an assistant librarian. With his scruffy beard, shapeless cap, and ill-fitting suit, Norman always appears slightly unkempt. Convention fits Norman no better than do his clothes. He possesses a wry sense of humor, a benign indifference to the restrictions of work and marriage, and a well-earned reputation for causing trouble, although never with malice. Sexually opportunistic.

TOM - AGE: 20s - 30s
Ethnically Diverse. A veterinarian, he is hapless and droll, dimwitted and dry. Doesn't know how to show emotion, however longs for marriage, but unable to secure a mate. Tom is a luke-warm suitor to Annie. He is agonizingly indecisive about making his relationship with Annie any more committed than it already is. Great with animals...but people confuse him.

THE NORMAN CONQUESTS TRILOGY

TABLE MANNERS: The events of one weekend as seen from the Dining Room. In which Reg finds food rather scarce despite having it thrown at him by Sarah... Sarah is scandalised by Annie... Annie is disappointed by men in general and Tom in particular... Tom knocks down Norman... Norman's romantic proposals are ruined thanks to Ruth... Ruth loses her patience, her temper and her glasses... and in which everyone has trouble deciding where to sit...
LIVING TOGETHER: The events of one weekend as seen from the Sitting Room. In which Reg is driven mad by Tom... Tom tells Annie a thing or two... Annie nearly comes to blows with Sarah... Sarah sees a different side of Norman... Norman sorts things out with Ruth... Ruth discovers the charms of a fireside rug... and in which nobody enjoys playing board games...
ROUND AND ROUND THE GARDEN: The events of one weekend as seen from the Garden. In which Ruth thoroughly confuses Tom... Tom succeeds in asking Annie... Annie gets a glimpse of Norman's pyjamas... Norman tells Sarah stories by moonlight... Sarah disapproves of Reg's outdoor sports... and in which everyone gets to roll in the grass...
