Soul Crush Premieres New Show At People's Improv Theatre Image

Soul Crush's new show, premiering at the People's Improv Theatre on January 28th, will feel like if SNL melded with a more anxious version of Broad City.

Comedy duo and real-life buds Marissa Stuart & Laura Merli met on the People's Improv Theatre Resident House Teams. Their breakout show has been in the works for a few months after the successes of their first one-off show at Sketchfest and youtube parody on the much-buzzed-about-hit-movie Ladybird (https://youtu.be/cNX1slkxiHA).

Their show (including brand-new material each time) will run monthly from January to June. Tickets are available here: https://thepit-nyc.com/events/soul-crush/

Laura Merli is a standup comedian, sketch performer, and writer. She placed second in the The Ladies of Laughter stand up competition, appeared in the Women in Comedy Festival, the Cinder Block Comedy Festival, and performs all over. She has written for and acted on a sketch house team at the PIT and also at Improv Boston. She's also been a contributor to Reductress, The Hard Times, and McSweeney's. You can watch her other sketch videos at youtube.com/lauramerlicomedy and read her thoughts on twitter @passiveabrasive

By day, Marissa Stuart is a trend forecasting editor and copywriter, but by night she is a writer and performer in New York City. She is a member of PIT sketch team, Road Pizza, that performs select Tuesdays at The PIT. You can catch her performing hip-hop improv with Boots & Cats or the all-women team DMXX. She is also a performer at The Armory (The Tank) for the boisterous show Shot4Shot. She has also performed and competed in a competitive karaoke league (and won) and has been a hand model (twice).
