Last week, BWW shared reports that stage and screen legend Angela Lansbury was in talks for a guest starring role for the 7th installment of the cult series GAME OF THRONES. Today however, EW has confirmed with the actress' team that the report was inaccurate. As of today, HBO had not commented on the matter.
As previously announced, the final season of GAME OF THRONES will film in Northern Ireland, Spain and Iceland. Set to premiere next summer, the season will consist of only seven episodes. The show has been nominated for 23 Emmy Awards.
Among the works in five-time Tony-winner Angela Lansbury's prolific Broadway career are Gore Vidal's THE BEST MAN, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, BLITHE SPIRIT, MAME, SWEENEY TODD, THE KING AND I, GYPSY and DEAR WORLD. She also recently starred opposite James Earl Jones in an Australian tour of DRIVING MISS DAISY. It was reported earlier this summer that Lansbury will return to Broadway in THE CHALK GARDEN next season. The actress has received an honorary Oscar, won six Golden Globes and an Olivier Award. She is well known for her roles on-screen in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, MURDER, SHE WROTE, THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, THE PICTURE OF DORIan Gray and GASLIGHT.Photo Credit: Genevieve Rafter-Keddy
