Stephen Sondheim fans rejoice! Arriving this October, available for the first time ever in any format, is the classic 1966 production of EVENING PRIMOSE, Sondheim's "lost" TV musical. Composed by the Academy Award®-winning, seven-time Tony Award®-winning and Grammy® nominee for such landmark shows as "Sweeney Todd" "West Side Story" and "Gypsy", this star-studded gem of a bygone era, originally broadcast on "ABC Stage 67" debuts on extras-laden DVD on October 26 courtesy of The Archive of American Television Presents, a partnership between Entertainment One and the Archive of American Television, a program of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation.

Based on John Collier's acclaimed short story, this black-and-white classic which has been digitally re-stored and re-mastered to exacting standard, features a teleplay by James Goldman and direction by Paul Bogart, and stars a young and very talented Anthony Perkins (Psycho, The Trial). Dorothy Stickney (The Uninvited, Cinderella), Larry Gates (Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, In The Heat Of The Night) and Charmian Carr (The Sound Of Music) join the ensemble for the story of Charles Snell (Perkins), a stressed-out poet, who gets the brilliant idea to live in a department store, hiding by day, and courting his muse by night where it's quiet, and he can have all his needs met. However, once the lights go down, he discovers a group of hermits who've been hiding there for years, forever dodging the night watchman and keeping their existence secret at all costs. Among the
group is Ella, a handmaiden to Mrs. Monday, the head of the hermits, who desperately wants to escape but is far too frightened. Will Charles be the one to show her the larger world outside? Find out in this eagerly-anticipated production, featuring the songs "I Remember" and "Take Me to the World".
Loaded with exclusive extras, EVENING PRIMROSE includes a newly recorded video interview with director Paul Bogart; a newly recorded audio interview with Charmian Carr; full color test footage with Anthony Perkins; and a booklet with written contributions by Stephen Sondheim and Jane Klain of the Paley Center.

Presented in black and white with an aspect ratio of 4x3 (1.33:1) and Mono Sound, along with English SDH subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, EVENING PRIMROSE is an historic must-have for all connoisseurs of the classic American musical. SPECIAL
