Something from Abroad Productions presents: Abroad-A Night of Short Plays

Abroad is a collection of six short plays written by bilingual artists that focuses on celebrating heritage, language, and cultural identity.

Featuring:

CULTURAL IDENTITY CONFESSIONS by Zhanna Rohalska (Russian-Ukrainian) The inner struggle of a Russian-speaking female transplant from Eastern Europe in NYC that at times turns comical. And the parental challenges related to the cultural identity conflict.

DANS LE JARDIN by Casey McDougal. (English-French)
Brie, a 20 year old college student, has just been hit by a truck while crossing the street. She is having a Near Death Experience.

ERIAL by Regina Romero. (English-Spanish) Two women, that have been through very different paths, find themselves sharing their culture, language and laments in the least expected place: an abortion clinic. They try to find comfort in each other, but will they be able to trade destinies?

ESCENARIOS by Martha Preve Ayora. (Fully in Spanish)
The piece will explore the possible outcomes of a couple reuniting after a breakup.

INTO THE SHADOWS OF NOTHINGNESS by Sebastian Ospina. (English-Spanish) A romantic tragedy of epic dimension. Tells the story of two heroes fallen in disgrace. Simon Bolivar and Manuela Saenz, lovers and warriors, are both vanished from the nations they liberated from the Spanish crown.

PIRANDELLO by Francesco Ciaramel. (Italian-English)
A 1921 Luigi Pirandello's answer to his critics excited me to write a solo performance to establish my point of view on theatre. The vigorousness of his words resounds clearly also today.

Join us at the Kraine theater (85 E 4th St NY) this coming 24th and 25th of August @ 7pm. Ticket link here. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/somethingfromabroad/
