In response to popular and critical acclaim, Soho Rep., in association with John Adrian Selzer, announces a second and final extension of the U.S. premiere of Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. to May 22.
Through a series of provocations that overlap, intersect and explode, Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. explores the politics of language.
Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. was declared a New York Times critic's pick by Ben Brantley, who wrote, "ferocious energy courses through this short, sharp shock of a production...With a cast that revels in acting up and acting out, Ms. Birch's work finds the theatrical exhilaration in civil disobedience." Also naming the production a critics' pick, David Cote of Time Out New York noted, "The linguistic and visual density that Birch and director Lileana Blain-Cruz achieve leaves you emotionally winded yet still engaged." Katy Waldman in Slate added that the play "is a puckish, yet deadly serious meditation on how language molds our experience of gender, a scalding cascade of interconnected vignettes exploring words and their limits."
