In response to popular demand and critical acclaim, Soho Rep. and Ars Nova announce a second and final extension of the New York premiere of Cesar Alvarez's Futurity to November 22. Directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson, Futurity, which opened on October 20, is a new, avant-Americana musical with music by Alvarez and The Lisps, and lyrics and book by Alvarez. The production, which features 13 actor-musicians, is presented at the Connelly Theater (220 E. 4th St.) and in association with Carole Shorenstein Hays.

Futurity was developed, in part, through a commission from
Walker Arts Center. Futurity was originally produced in 2012 by the American Repertory Theater. Support for this production provided by the Blanche & Irving Laurie Foundation, the National Fund for New Musicals, a program of National Alliance for Musical Theatre and the National Endowment of the Arts.
In conjunction with performances of Futurity,
Soho Rep's FEED Humanities program will present a series of post-show discussions with experts from various fields. In the final event, on November 7, the Lisps' drummer and Percussion and Contraption Designer, Eric Farber, will be interviewed by pop music critic John Donohue about The Steam Brain and the overlap between sculpture and music. The event is free and takes place at The Connelly Theater immediately after matinee performance.
