According to the NY Times, the snow storm that has taken over the east coast has made a big impact on tickets sales at TKTS. Though the holiday season usually brings big audiences to Broadway, the harsh winter weather seems to have gotten in the way.
Though more shows were available for last minute tickets at TKTS on Sunday, both booths sold a combined total of only 5,959 tickets. TKTS sold 7,199 tickets on the Sunday after Christmas last year.

As reported previously by BroadwayWolrd, New York City entered official 'snow day' mode with thousands of travelers stranded trying to either come in or get out. There's no school, very little available transportation, limited Staten Island Ferry and subway service, but Broadway will be performing.
The Broadway League commented on the situation: "The weather outside is frightful, but the Broadway shows inside are delightful! As of now, the great white way is open for business and all Broadway shows will perform today as previously scheduled. Whether you live in New York or are a visitor stranded in our city, it's a wonderful time to see a show! Tickets to hit shows will be available due to cancellations from the cold winter storm."
The mayor made the following statement from this morning "New York City was hit with a winter storm that was as strong as the meteorologists predicted. Our Sanitation crews worked through the night but road conditions are bad and there are service interruptions and delays on mass transit. To keep the roads clear for plows and emergency crews, I encourage New Yorkers to avoid driving. New York City government never really closes, and it won't today, but of course we understand that many will face travel obstacles. In addition to the suspension of alternate side parking rules, all parking meter regulations have been suspended for today, so you don't have to move your car or feed the meter."
