Kerry Politzers celebrates the release of her new CD "Blue in Blue" at Smalls Jazz Club on Friday May 7. Politzner will be joined in concert for the event by Donny McCaslin on sax, Paul Beaudry on Bass and George Colligan on drums. Returning to her interamental jazz roots "Blue on Blue" features all-original compositions and the talents of Donny McCaslin, Paul Beaudry and George Colligan.
Politzer studied classical piano for fourteen years, attending the North Carolina School of the Arts and summer programs at Tanglewood and Interlochen. She entered the New England Conservatory of Music with the intention of continuing her classical studies, but fell in love with jazz. She studied with jazz guru Charlie Banacos, who inspired her to begin composing, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano Performance.
