The hit off-Broadway show Slava's Snowshow will join forces with Transatlantic Partners Against AIDS to help raise money to fight HIV/AIDS in Russia.  Slava's Snowshow will host a special fundraising performance on Wednesday, December 7 at the Union Square Theatre (100 East 17th Street) and will sell special red wristbands throughout December to build awareness for the cause.

"Russia has emerged as a new epicenter in the global HIV/AIDS pandemic, registering one of the world's fastest-growing rates of new infection.  Transatlantic Partners Against AIDS (TPAA) is leading the fight against HIV/AIDS in Russia and Ukraine by supporting policy, industry and media responses to the epidemic," state press notes.

The benefit performance is sponsored by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Davidzon Radio and MAC VIVA GLAM.

"At present, there are over 318,000 registered cases of HIV infection in Russia, although some independent Russian and international experts estimate that between 800,000 and 1.5 million Russians may be living with HIV, representing between 1 and 2 percent of its adult population.  Young Russians are especially at-risk, with more than 80 percent of all registered cases of HIV-infection among men and women under age 30."

Created by the internationally acclaimed Russian clown Slava Polunin, Slava's Snowshow is a "magical theatrical experience that melds the unbridled hilarity, and the unexpected poignancy, of the art of clowning with stunning spectacle and awe-inspiring visual images and fantasy, culminating in a heart-stopping snowstorm that engulfs the entire audience." Slava's Snowshow, which is performed by an ensemble of clowns, has been seen in over 80 cities around the world.

Ticket prices are $62.90 to $67.90.  For tickets, call Ticketmaster at (212) 307-4100, or the Union Square Theatre box-office at (212) 505-0700, or visit www.ticketmaster.com and mention special code TPAA62 to ensure proceeds go to help fight AIDS.
