Tonight, September 19, Sky-Pony (fronted by Tony nominee Lauren Worsham) will hit the stage at NYC's Mercury Lounge. The Brooklyn-based band has built a cult following for their high-energy gigs that blur the line between rock concert, performance art, and theatrical event.
This will be their first show back after a summer spent in the studio working on their debut full-length album Beautiful Monster, to be released by Knitting Factory Records in November 2015. They'll hit the stage at 9pm tonight, September 19. Doors open at 7:30pm and opening act Hey Anna goes on at 8pm. Mercury Lounge is located at 217 East Houston Street. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, available at www.mercuryloungenyc.com/event/913461-sky-pony-new-york.Sky-Pony is a collaboration between singer/actress Lauren Worsham (Tony nominee and Drama Desk award winner for Broadway's Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder) and her husband, Obie-winning songwriter Kyle Jarrow. Along with a five-piece band and a cadre of backup singers, they serve up lush, danceable indie-pop with a healthy dose of theatrics. The Wall Street Journal describes them as "a 1960s girl group on crack - tight, fierce, hilarious and out of their minds." The NJ Star-Ledger calls them "magnetic" and praises their combination of "lively electro-pop melodies with synchronized dance moves." Flavorpill calls Lauren Worsham "one of the most talented singers and performers in New York."
