Tonight, September 21, indie art-rock band Sky-Pony will hit the stage of L.E.S. club PIANOS. Since its formation in January 2012, Sky-Pony has garnered a cult following for sets that blur the line between rock show and theatrical event. They've played sold-out sets at venues including Joe's Pub, Mercury Lounge and the Knitting Factory.
It all happens tonight, September 21 at Pianos (158 Ludlow Street, NYC). Sky-Pony hits the stage at 10pm, followed by the band Toys and Tiny Instruments. Tickets are $10. More info at www.pianosnyc.com.
Sky-Pony is a Brooklyn based band that serves up lush, lyrical, often cheeky indie-pop with a healthy dose of theatrics. They incorporate costumes, choreography, and projections into their high-energy live shows. Rock concert meets performance art meets burlesque, you might say. Their discography includes two EPs: Say You Love Me Like You Mean It and Raptured Live, both available on itunes.
Sky-Pony is led by Lauren Worsham (singer/actress who most recently appeared in New York City Opera's Turn of the Screw - see Time Out interview here) and her husband Kyle Jarrow (Obie Award winning playwright/composer known for A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant, Whisper House, also of the bands The Fabulous Entourage and Super Mirage). Sky-Pony also features the talents of Kevin Wunderlich, Lizzie O'Hara, Kristine Piacentile, Jessi Suzuki, Perry Silver, Eric Day and David Blasher. More info on the band at http://www.sky-pony.com.
