The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs (MAC) will present "Intimate Nights: The Golden Age of Cabaret ~ A Discussion About the History of New York's Nightlife," the third in this season's ongoing MAC Seminar Series, focusing on all aspects of Live Entertainment. The Seminar will take place on Tuesday, February 27th from 6-8pm at Broadway Comedy Club.
Moderated by MAC award winner Richard Skipper, the panel for this Seminar will also include authors James Gavin and Deborah Grace Winer; performance educator Linda Amiel Burns; actress, producer and talk show host, Jamie deRoy; & booking manager, performer & MAC Board member Sidney Myer. James Gavin will also be signing copies of his book Intimate Nights.
James Gavin is the author of Intimate Nights. His work has appeared in the New York Times, Vanity Fair & Time Out New York, and has been nominated for a Grammy award. He can be seen on "E!" & heard on National Public Radio.
Deborah Grace Winer is the author of The Night and the Music: Rosemary Clooney, Barbara Cook and Julie Wilson Inside the World of Cabaret. She is also a contributor to the New York Times and Opera News and has written on the life and music of Dorothy Fields.
Jamie deRoy, is a former President of MAC. She is a versatile performer, who is equally celebrated as Broadway producer, record producer & talk show host.
Linda Amiel Burns, is the founder of "The Singing Experience," workshops in performance technique for people who want to explore their potential, discover their hidden talents & gain self-confidence through the magic of music. She served for 17 years on the MAC Board.
Sidney Myer is currently serving on the MAC Board and is also the Booking Manager for Don't Tell Mama. He has performed in New York clubs and at the New York, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago, Palm Springs & London Cabaret Conventions, produced by The Mabel Mercer Foundation. He has won numerous MAC and Back Stage Bistro Awards & can be seen weekly in the award-winning "Poole Party Comedy/Variety Show" at Don't Tell Mama.
Moderator Richard Skipper currently serves on the MAC Board and has coordinated this panel. He is also a career coach & offers workshops on "Making a Living on the Road for Performers with Self-contained Acts."
