Performing their favorite showtunes before a full house at Stitch Bar & Lounge on Friday, six finalists in NYMF's "Broadway Idol" have advanced to this week's second round. Celebrity judges Marc Shaiman and Donna Lynne Champlin provided commentary and feedback to the contestants, before the decision of who would move on in the competition was turned over to the audience, via Verizon Wireless text message voting.
The six remaining contestants are: Auri Marcus, DeMond B. Nason, Stephanie Pitsiladis, George Psomas, Isabel Santiago, and Alysha Umphress.
The theme for this Friday's second round is "Broadway Rocks!" with contestants singing rock songs from Broadway shows. Andrea McArdle will again host the evening, and the panel of celebrity judges on hand to offer feedback to the contestants and audience will consist of Anthony Rapp, Jose Llana and Mandy Gonzales.
The event begins at 10PM, with an opening set by rocker Joe Iconis, and the competition set to start at 11PM.
