On Monday, October 24, from 7-10 pm, Singing OnStage Productions (SOS) will host a special evening event for all theatre artists, including actors, director/choreographers, writers, and designers. "Theatre Artists Connect" will provide participants with the opportunity to hear from working industry professionals about how they create and find work through relationship building.
Guest panelists will include composer/lyricist Joe Iconis, director John Simpkins, producer Michael Roderick, and actor/entrepreneurs Jodie Bentley and Doug Shapiro from Savvy Actor. SOS is all about building a community of theatre artists to create musicals for the 21st century. As part of that community building, we're putting together this special event.
The evening will be broken into three parts. First, an interactive discussion between theatre professionals of all disciplines. Then participants will be given the opportunity to discuss their past theatre experiences and where they hope to be in the future. And lastly, there will be an opportunity for all to mingle with each other and build professional relationships.
Admission to the event is only $15 if you register before Friday, October 21. Go to http://singingonstageproductions.com/classes/theatre-artists-connect/ or call 814-360-9709 for more information and to register. "Theatre Artists Connect" will be held at The Davenport Studio in midtown Manhattan.
This event follows our highly successful Music Director Weekend Intensive in September. That program brought together 27 emerging Music Directors and 18 industry professionals, including orchestrator Michael Starobin and music director/arranger David Chase, to discuss the role of the Music Director and to connect with one another.
Here's some comments by those who attended:
"Absolute top of the line MD's, Conductors, Voice Teachers, Arrangers, Orchestrators, Composers, Directors, Choreographers, and Music Entrepreneurs all giving back to the new generation of MD's! What's not to like? "
"I've been a professional musical director for the last ten years; the MD Intensive taught me more in a weekend than I have learned in a decade."
"[The Intensive] has redefined my concept of modern music directing."
